Morning habits that will change your life for the better

Setting morning routines can be a complete life changer. We can learn patience, being present in the moment and practice self-care. As with everything good in life, the first few steps are the hardest, so don’t get discouraged if you want to quit your newly established routine after a week or so and fall back into your old ways.

1. SIP IT
One of the most important aspects of every morning is to hydrate yourself, so drink a glass of water; during the night your body gets dehydrated so it’s important to hydrate ourselves. You can add some fresh lemon, lime or cucumber.

2. STRETCH IT OUT
Regardless if you are a morning person or not, slight movement is good for the body in the morning. Even if it is 5 minutes of stretching, this is enough for the body to shift into active mode for the day ahead.

3. POSITIVE SELF-TALK
The way we think greatly impacts everything we do and the quality if our life. Affirmations can be a great way to create a more positive approach to the day ahead. Writing down your thoughts and journaling can also create more space in the mind to feel free and creative.

4. DRINK YOUR GREENS
Whether you make a smoothie, fresh juice or have a green powder such as spirulina or barley grass, nourishing our body should be a priority. It depends how your digestion is, but in general smoothies and green juices are easier to digest as they are liquid form. Some of these may help to cleanse the digestive organs, plus they come with loads of vitamins, minerals and nutritional benefits.

5. LOVE MAKING
Hugging ja a beautiful expression of love and compassion. If you have a partner then take 2 minutes to just be in each other’s arms. Hold one another. But hugging is not just a romantic expression, you can hug a family member, your cat, or even yourself. Just embrace the qualities of what hugging brings and feel the love.

6. MEDITATION
Our lives have become so automatic and fast paced that we rarely stand still and live in the moment. Take 5 -10 minutes every morning to sit in silence and focus on your breath. Meditation is about learning to live in the moment, and just be still. It can help us be aware stay more alert, stress less and enjoy life more.

Remember that change must first come from within and we can choose to feel the blessings of each day by learning to embrace life.
