Whenever I look back at the toughest moment of my life, I can’t help but feel some sense of satisfaction. Whether I realized it at the time or not, those moments where I saw nothing but darkness, were actually the ones that shed the most light on my path later on.
Life is not meant to be easy, it is a journey after all. All journeys must start with a destination in mind but along the way you may encounter roadblocks that can take you on side streets to get to your final destination. These side streets may feel unfamiliar to you and because they were unexpected, you can get lost. You may run out of fuel, your car might break down and you might even question your desire towards this final destination. You have a choice of turning back or to keep going. All these unwanted happenings make you want to go back, but you know if you do, you will end up in the same place YOU WANTED TO LEAVE FROM. So what do you do?
Life is as much about the side streets as it is about your destination. The problem many of us face though is that the moment we get lost, we start turning on the wrong side streets instead of taking a moment to assess the path ahead. We rush into things, maybe because of the feeling of adventure we get, or perhaps fear gets in the way so we try to escape. What we often don’t see is that there is no escape, this is life and its beauty lies within these parameters of back and forwards movement. It is these conundrums that will help us grow and expand our vision to seeing new ways to get to where we want to end up. Feeling doubtful can actually be a blessing, because when you continue to question why you are doing what you are doing, you start to realize that you do have what it takes. Our intentions are our guidance we need to move forward. When you feel stuck, just think about your motives and if they are aligned with your instinctual existence, you will continue the journey no doubt.
There is no right or wrong and you will always have a choice to turn around but if you want to truly experience life and succeed at all you want to, getting lost on the side streets might actually bring about some exciting possibilities. And if you keep on going, eventually you will be so far away from where you first started that you’ll no longer feel familiar with it; but so close to where you want to go.
